Introduction
The Association of Hungarian Vehicle Importers (MGE) was established in 1990 with the aim of representing the interests of companies involved in vehicle imports and contributing to the transparent and fair operation of the domestic automobile market. Since its inception, the Association has been committed to fostering equal competition conditions, supporting sustainability objectives, and promoting the improvement of traffic safety and environmental protection.
The MGE's mission is to ensure that regulations governing the vehicle market apply equally to all stakeholders, providing transparency and high-quality services for customers. Furthermore, we actively support the adoption of modern, environmentally friendly technologies and the continuous renewal of the vehicle fleet.
Membership
Membership in the Association requires holding official factory import rights for vehicles. Currently, the MGE comprises 37 member companies, representing passenger cars, commercial vehicles, motorcycles, and other vehicle imports. The member companies account for more than 95% of new vehicle sales and approximately 80% of new motorcycle sales in Hungary.
Our members operate an extensive sales network with over 800 brand dealerships and associated service centers. These facilities ensure both warranty and post-warranty servicing and provide the necessary parts supply for maintaining used vehicles of the represented brands.
Advocacy and Activities
The MGE plays an active role in reviewing and shaping regulations related to vehicle trading. Our goal is to ensure that legislation balances the interests of all market participants, customers, traffic safety, and environmental protection.
The Association maintains ongoing dialogue with lawmakers, professional organizations, and government institutions to support the modernization and sustainability of the market. Additionally, the MGE regularly participates in organizing industry events and exhibitions to enhance the visibility of member companies and promote innovation.
Organizational Structure
The highest decision-making body of the MGE is the General Assembly, which meets at least once a year. The Executive Board consists of 11 members and the President, who represent various sectors within the industry. The President coordinates the day-to-day operations of the Association, ensuring the effectiveness of advocacy activities and facilitating communication among member companies.
